Coach and Bus from Dover to Calais

If you aren't travelling by car there, are numerous ways to get cross the channel.

National Express offer a superb coach service and great fares. The coaches are well equipped, all with onboard toilets, and some with extra leg room too.

Separate coach and ferry tickets

You can take the coach from London (or several other places in the UK) to the ferry port in Dover. The coach stops just outside the ferry terminal and only takes 2 hours and 20 minutes from London. Coach direct to France

It is also possible to take a National Express coach from London (and other UK terminals) straight to Paris and a host of other destination across Europe. This can all be done on 1 ticket (rather than having to buy a separate ferry ticket, for example). So you can board the coach in London, enjoy the ferry crossing from Dover to Calais, get back on the same coach in Calais and sit back and watch the world go by while National Express get you to the destination of your choice. How about Paris? You can get from London to Paris by coach for as little as 25, or a coach to Berlin for as little as 30!  Journey times will of course vary depending on traffic, but National Express estimate that times will be between 6 hours 30 minutes, to 9 hours.

Always try to book direct with them to avoid extra agents fees, and book online for the very cheapest deals. Also, book in advance - the earlier you book, the cheaper the fares will be.

Alternatives to the Coach from Dover to Calais

There are of course other options to coach travel. For example the Eurostar trains are far quicker than taking a coach. Journey times from London to Paris take just 2 hours 15 minutes! If you take the Eurostar you can avoid the motorways and traffic, and of course the ferry completely, as the trains use the Channel Tunnel.  The fares aren't expensive. If you book in advance you can get a return ticket from London to Paris and back for just 59.
